Wine Tasting at Siena house
When you’re out and about exploring in Tuscany, visiting wineries – choosing your wines, you’re going to be sipping and spitting (as we call it) to look after yourselves in terms of driving. That’s the best way to do days out at wineries – and also the best way to shop for wine – keeping your palate fresh and your wallet guided by your head as opposed to your…stomach ! However, it’s very attractive a prospect to taste ‘at home’, really ‘get into’ the wine and not have any driving to do afterwards. Thus we experienced when we contacted a local star winemaker to come to Siena House and ‘talk about Tuscan Wine’ presenting to the house guests at the kitchen bar. We tasted his hand picked best examples of wines from the major zones in Tuscany, learned about the ‘evolution’ of these wines, the rules (or lack of) that govern the wines, the differences between them – and so much more. The full ‘Talking about Tuscan Wine’ lesson from Sebastian Nasello (Winemaker at Podere Le Ripi biodynamic Brunello vineyard in Montalcino) and Sommelier Giulia will be on line very soon – but for now a little taster : Seb & Giulia on Rosso & Brunello di Montalcino and tasting Podere Le Ripi’s Rosso di Montalcino ‘Amore & Magia’ 2014 and Brunello di Montalcino Riserva ‘Lupi e Sireni’ 2009.
