The Grounds

Relatively small for a farm (we produce Saffron and Olive Oil) but making for a large garden, the grounds are fully enclosed with a wall, and gated entrance. The wall is mostly out of sight, at the bottom of the our hill. The ‘viewing platform’ position means that the best thing about being outside is the view.

The 360 degree panorama is varied including parts of a hunting reserve, vineyards, country houses and several hill towns.

A hilly area we refer to as the ‘Orcia – Chiana Ridge’ forms the views on one side of the house, whilst on the other side we overlook a wide valley, it’s farms and towns – Lucignano, Bettolle, Sinalunga and Cortona in the distance.

All Summer long guests return home in time for sunset, when the best place to be is in the garden. For new arrivals to the house golden light of late afternoon – the final hour before the sun is gone – is unmissable. ┬áTry to get here in time to enjoy it.

you will look great in it.

Our large pool is set away from the house, in it’s own lawns, with views of the surrounding farmland.

‘Out there’, beyond the limits of the grounds hill towns, country houses and farms make up the views – and depending upon the season and the time of day you might also see, deer, wild boar, pheasant, woodpecker, buzzard, porcupine, owl, kestrel – even eagles.

At night find low lighting for a tete-a-tete under the stars.
