Forms in green on the Francigena 2017
Deciding it was time to pay a visit to San Quirico d’Orcia, principally to ‘write it up’ for our local guide pages, we stumbled upon some really interesting al fresco art. We arrived in low light, close to sunset, it was already late for taking pictures – but perfect light conditions for this particular show. The location, Horti Leonini, a garden from the 1500’s in the centre of the little town is the ‘gallery’ for this exhibition of sculpture by the students of two Tuscan Art Accademia: Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze. What a superb event to stumble upon…Amidst a green maze like setting of beautifully cropped box hedges, characters of mythological personality distributed in the viale between the hedges, on lawns closed in between the hedges and looming out surveying the whole… wonderful ! In the distance a blue line, a waterfall from afar was in fact a collection of blue trash bags…a wonderful surprise on approach.
At the Horti Leonini garden in San Quirico d’Orcia, an exhibition of contemporary art, from 5 August to 5 November 2107.
