Sunday Morning Garden Tour at La Foce
It’s a long time since we’ve been to La Foce, but we’ve had them on our minds during this hot dry Summer. How are ornate gardens in Tuscany managing with the extreme heat and this years’ lack of rain? This morning we decided to get out to La Foce and see for ourselves. As we suspected in their already dry location, water is being bought in to keep the plants alive this year. Whether or not you are into gardens, we think if you’re attracted to Tuscany you’re going to love the La Foce garden tour. It’s guided only, 10 Euro per person, but you don’t need to book a place. Just show up at the prescribed times (below). Our guide Sibylla Holtz*, was brilliant, announcing up front that she loved introducing this wonderful garden to it’s guests.
Why would we need a guide to see a garden?
The story of La Foce, it’s owners and the parts they had to play in Tuscany’s history, is as captivating as the gardens themselves. That’s where your guide comes in.
You can visit the gardens from the final weekend of March until November 1.
Opening hours (tours at) Wednesday 3,4,5 and 6 pm as long as there is daylight, i.e. in October the last tour is at 5 pm. Saturday and Sunday 11.30, 3 and 4.30 pm.
The telephone number of the Garden is +39 0578 69101
On the same estate a super place to eat is the ex La Foce workers’ canteen and now restaurant & bar Dopolavoro
